I like Gilda Radner a lot It is not a bad memoir, its just I wanted to knowabout her, her life, her career, SNL, etc This is almost solely about her relationship with Gene Wilder and her cancer Its not un interesting, but I didn t want to read about cancer She had some fabulous insights on life and is a good writer One part in particular I really loved I wanted a perfect ending Now I ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don t rhyme, and some stories don t have a clear beginning I like Gilda Radner a lot It is not a bad memoir, its just I wanted to knowabout her, her life, her career, SNL, etc This is almost solely about her relationship with Gene Wilder and her cancer Its not un interesting, but I didn t want to read about cancer She had some fabulous insights on life and is a good writer One part in particular I really loved I wanted a perfect ending Now I ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don t rhyme, and some stories don t have a clear beginning, middle, and end Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what s going to happen next Delicious Ambiguity

One would think the author, particularly one who was such a funny comedian and performer, would perfectly bring this story to life, yet Gilda fell into the trap so many of us do by using that droll reading voice You know, the one where you pause every so often and form this weird, unnatural rhythm that doesn t really take the words you re reading into account It feelslike recitation without regard for the actual context. But maybe my opinion is because I ve never listened to an audiobook One would think the author, particularly one who was such a funny comedian and performer, would perfectly bring this story to life, yet Gilda fell into the trap so many of us do by using that droll reading voice You know, the one where you pause every so often and form this weird, unnatural rhythm that doesn t really take the words you re reading into account It feelslike recitation without regard for the actual context. But maybe my opinion is because I ve never listened to an audiobook before and I ve never been a good listener Either way, I felt disappointed that Gilda didn t seem to be telling her story, just reciting it The content, however, is compelling and heartbreaking, and maybe it just took a lot out of her.I ll have to get my hands on a copy and read this book, I believe I ll enjoy it so muchand getof Gilda s voice

Gilda Radner gave the good fight, but she just never caught a break She finished writing her memoirs just before she died from ovarian cancer in 1989 I have had this book on my bookshelf ever since, but just never got around to reading it Misdiagnosed from the beginning, Gilda struggled with one setback after the other The one constant in her life was her devoted husband Gene Wilder, whom we recently lost All women deserve a good man like him Although, her book was upbeat and funny just l Gilda Radner gave the good fight, but she just never caught a break She finished writing her memoirs just before she died from ovarian cancer in 1989 I have had this book on my bookshelf ever since, but just never got around to reading it Misdiagnosed from the beginning, Gilda struggled with one setback after the other The one constant in her life was her devoted husband Gene Wilder, whom we recently lost All women deserve a good man like him Although, her book was upbeat and funny just like she was most of the time she detailed her horrific battle with cancer and didn t hold back What she went through and what many people face, was gut wrenching to read about The worst part for me was knowing how it would all end despite her valiant efforts Her humor and spirit shone through page after page and I only hope that she and Gene Wilder are together again happy and at peace

Gilda Radner is a name that many of our youth does not know She was a wonderful character actress This autobiography was a great read, but you need to have an interest in this person to really appreciate it I recommend Googling Gilda Radner and watching some SNL Youtube videos of her Rosanne Rosanna danna before starting in on this book I wish she would have been around longer.

24 years later, there is still no cure for cancer I liked this book better when it first came out, full of hope inspiration Rereading it only made me sad and evenpissed off at the industry of the disease The oncologists would go broke if a sure cure were to be discovered I am reminded that I do know some survivors and am grateful for that 24 years later, there is still no cure for cancer I liked this book better when it first came out, full of hope inspiration Rereading it only made me sad and evenpissed off at the industry of the disease The oncologists would go broke if a sure cure were to be discovered I am reminded that I do know some survivors and am grateful for that
